Book Worms!

Book Worms!

‘Book Club’ and ‘Book Quest’ are proving to be a great success in Years 5 and 6 with the total books read, since its launch, being 504! It is fantastic to see such enjoyment and enthusiasm for reading and great to hear that the book buzz is contagious at home too. We have heard that some parents are even joining in on the act, with one family particularly taken with Skellig! Here are a few comments from some of our enthusiastic book worms:

Book club is amazing because you get reviews from other people that inspire you to read books that you know you’re going to love! So far I’ve read Skelling, Goodnight Mr Tom, Fireweed, Urban Outlaws and am just finishing Johnny And The Bomb! Urban Outlaws is my favourite so far because it’s different and it’s more modern than James Bond!’ Owen Year 6

“Book club is really helping me improve my vocabulary because when I come across new words I ask my mum or dad what they mean. My favourite book so far is Liar and Spy because it has mystery in it and quite a lot of cliff hangers so it really makes you want to keep reading!” Phoebe Year 6

“I love book club because you can read lots of books that you haven’t read before. I liked Hercufleas – I couldn’t put it down - and now I’m reading Millions by Frank Cottrell Boyce. It’s great because you can read with your friends and talk about the books that you’ve read.” Ollie G  Year 5

Thank you again to the PSA who have helped us to be able to buy lots of new and exciting books. Look out for more fundraising events so that we can keep building our stock and hopefully extend this initiative into Years 3 and 4.

Happy reading everyone!
