New School Caterers

New School Caterers

We have been really pleased with our new school caters, Caterlink , and the quality of the food the children are now having. It is a great improvement on what they were having previously. We have also noticed that portion sizes have increased so hopefully children are not coming home quite so hungry – we know this was an issue before. Feedback from children has been great and numbers of both children and staff having hot school dinners has already increased. It was good to see so many parents trying the samples at the end of school today. The new caters are offering a much more flexible service in the dining hall which has reduced the time that children have had wait to be served – this is a great improvement for our KS2 children. The amount of food waste has also decreased by about half – which must be a good sign!

Whenever we change to a new menu we have issues over quantities and availability of the different dinners. We have now completed the first round of the new menu and the cooks have been monitoring popularity of each option. This will allow them, as we enter the next menu round, to respond to pupil choice. Jacket potatoes have soared in popularity - from 20 to over 50 now! The kitchen will continue to increase their numbers to meet demand.

Over the next few months we will be continuing to review our lunchtime offer – this will include parental meal choice via parentpay and sandwich and salad grab and go offers. Do keep giving us your constructive feedback so we can share it with Caterlink in order to provide the best possible dining experience for our children.
