Welcome to a new school year!  It has been lovely to welcome all the children back and to see how excited they are about being back in their new classes.  We are now almost completely full with 21 classes in the school and 618 children on roll.  We are particularly pleased to welcome our Reception children and if you are a new parent at St Peter’s – a particular welcome to you.

Children have settled into classes really quickly and we are already seeing a very high standard of learning and work going on as we work on our Excellence projects.  Don’t forget to put the date of the Excellence Exhibition in your diaries – Friday 27th September at 2.30pm

We have also welcomed a number of new staff:

  • Mr Kilcoyne in Year 5
  • Miss Ovington in Year 2
  • Miss Stephens in Reception
  • Miss Nation – supporting learning across the school
  • Miss Marsden supporting learning in Reception
  • Miss Rowe supporting learning in Year 3
  • Mr Burchell as our play worker

A lot of work took place over the holiday and I would like to thank Mr Ashley and Mr Vaughan for all their work at this time.   I am sure that the children will tell you about some of the new things on site:

  • We now have a running track – 4 times around and children will have run 1K
  • The new ‘Trim Trail’ going on our younger children’s play area
  • Refurbished boys’ toilets in the Harbour building
  • The more observant might have noticed that we have also had facia boards and new windows  in the Harbour building
  • The new logos in the Pier hall helping us to think about Excellence in all we do, in who we are and in our service with others
  • We have also had routine maintenance of lighting and painting completed
  • We have opened up a Reception conservation area
