We were inspected by OFSTED in May 2019. This inspection was a Section 8 one day inspection and since September 2018 schools who receive this kind of inspection cannot change their overall grading without going through a subsequent full two day inspection at a later date. We are however very pleased to say that the inspectors believe that St Peter’s may be judged to be outstanding if we were inspected in a 2 day (Section 5) inspection and have recommended that our next inspection will be a Section 5 inspection and that this should take place within the next 12 – 24 months. It is very rare for schools to receive this recommendation and we look forward to being able to share all that we do with a new inspection team so that we have the opportunity to gain a full Outstanding judgement.
The report from the inspection celebrates many, many strengths.
St Peter’s has teachers with a wealth of specialist knowledge in the teaching of reading and phonics.
The capacity to drive school improvement is exceptionally strong.
Pupils are making “substantial and sustained progress”
We were very proud of the way in which our children responded during the inspection too. It is lovely to read that:
Pupils are exceptionally well behaved, confident and self-assured. They thrive on the challenges presented to them in lessons. Their excellent attitudes to learning have a significant impact on their strong achievement over time. Pupils share and discuss their work with pride.
Thank you to everyone who participated in Parent View or met the OFSTED inspector to share your views on our school. Your kind words during OFSTED were hugely appreciated by the staff.
Parental feedback is overwhelmingly positive about the efforts made by staff to ensure that children are happy, feel safe and are well looked after. Parents say that staff value and respect all children. For example, a comment typical of many, said, ‘The school is very inclusive and makes sure that every child has the opportunities that their peers have’.
