Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. Our high-quality art and design curriculum is designed to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they are challenged to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. Our curriculum provides a wealth of opportunities to explore how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation. At St Peter's we study, and are inspired by, a range of artists, including local artists both famous and less well known. Each year, we hold an art exhibition so that every child has the opportunity to display their work to a large audience, and be recognised, and celebrated, as an artist.
We are fortunate to have our own specialist art teacher who works across KS1 and KS2 to support the children's development as artists.
We have been awarded Artsmark Gold in recognition of our commitment to, and excellence in, arts and cultural education.
